Accord Cabin
Designed as an upstate retreat for a Brooklyn-based designer, Accord Cabin was conceived as a space for both gathering and solitude. The primary living areas are oriented toward distant mountain views, creating an open and communal side of the house, while the bedrooms and bathrooms prioritize intimate views into the forest. The architecture draws on the local building vernacular through its simple roof forms and straightforward massing, reinterpreting familiar rural typologies in a contemporary way. A screened porch, outdoor deck, and bluestone patio extend the public living spaces into the landscape, creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor environments. The restrained material palette of wood, glass, and metal further supports the project's intent to frame and amplify the experience of the site, allowing the surrounding landscape to remain the primary focus.
